What We Do

Our Services

From new builds to existing homes, we handle every aspect of hydronic heat pump design and installation.

Radiator Panel Heating

Sleek, low-profile hydronic radiator panels mounted on walls throughout your home. An elegant retrofit solution for established Melbourne homes — no structural work required, and far more efficient than electric alternatives.

  • Designer panel radiators
  • Minimal installation disruption
  • Works with existing plumbing
  • Individual room thermostats

Gas to Heat Pump Changeover

Already have a gas hydronic system? We swap out your gas boiler for a modern heat pump, keeping all your existing pipework, radiators and thermostats. You get the same warmth with dramatically lower running costs and no gas connection required.

  • Keep existing radiators & pipework
  • Boiler-to-heat-pump swap
  • Rebates & incentives assistance
  • Minimal downtime during switchover

Retrofit to Existing Homes

Bringing modern heat pump hydronic heating to established homes is our specialty. We assess your home's construction, insulation, and layout to design the most practical and cost-effective system — whether panel radiators, a screed overlay, or a hybrid approach.

  • Full home assessment
  • Custom system design
  • Minimal disruption to living
  • Phased installation available

Zoned Multi-Room Systems

Heat only the rooms you're using, when you're using them. Our zoned hydronic systems with smart thermostats let you set different temperatures in different areas of your home, reducing waste and maximising comfort exactly where you need it.

  • Individual zone thermostats
  • Smart home integration
  • Programmable scheduling
  • Energy monitoring

System Design & Consulting

Not sure which system suits your home? We provide detailed assessments and heat loss calculations to specify the right heat pump size, emitter type, and zone layout. We design systems that will be efficient and comfortable for the life of your home.

  • Heat loss calculations
  • System sizing & specification
  • Comparison of options

The Technology

How Heat Pump Hydronic Heating Works

A heat pump doesn't burn fuel to create heat — it moves heat that already exists in the outside air into your home, using electricity as the motive power.

Extract Heat from Outside Air

The heat pump's outdoor unit absorbs thermal energy from the outside air — even when temperatures drop to -10°C. A refrigerant fluid captures this energy.

Amplify & Transfer

A compressor concentrates that energy, raising the refrigerant temperature significantly. This heat is transferred to your home's water circuit through a heat exchanger.

Warm Water Circulates

Heated water flows quietly through your home's hydronic circuit — through underfloor pipes or wall-mounted radiator panels — radiating gentle, even warmth.

Up to 400% Efficiency

For every 1 kW of electricity consumed, a heat pump delivers 3–4 kW of heating — a coefficient of performance (COP) impossible with direct electric or gas combustion.

Why hydronic? Unlike ducted air systems, hydronic heating doesn't blow dry air around your home. It radiates heat evenly, doesn't circulate dust or allergens, and feels like natural warmth — more comfortable at lower ambient temperatures.

Why Choose Heat Pump Hydronic

Superior Heating, Lower Running Costs

Drastically Lower Bills

Heat pump hydronic systems typically cut heating bills by 50–70% compared to a gas boiler running at equivalent comfort levels.

No Gas, No Combustion

Heat pumps produce no carbon monoxide, no emissions at point of use, and no need for a gas connection — eliminating both the safety risk and the daily supply charge.

Superior Comfort

Radiant hydronic heat warms surfaces, objects and people — not just air. The result is even, draught-free warmth that's far more pleasant than forced-air systems.

Future-Proof Your Home

With gas networks being wound back across Victoria, converting now locks in your independence and positions your home for the clean energy future — and higher resale appeal.

Quiet & Low Maintenance

Hydronic systems are silent in operation — no fans blowing, no clicking ducts. Heat pumps have fewer moving parts than gas boilers and require minimal servicing.

Pairs With Solar

Run your heat pump off your rooftop solar and your heating cost approaches zero. The combination of solar PV and heat pump hydronic is the gold standard for Melbourne homes.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I convert my existing gas hydronic system to heat pump?

Yes — this is one of our most common projects. If you already have a gas hydronic system with radiator panels or underfloor pipes, we can replace just the boiler with a heat pump unit. Your existing pipework, radiators and thermostats typically remain in place. The process is relatively straightforward and can usually be completed in a day or two.

Will a heat pump work well enough on cold Melbourne winter days?

Absolutely. Modern air-source heat pumps are designed to operate efficiently down to -15°C or below. Melbourne rarely drops below 5°C overnight, which is well within the comfortable operating range of quality heat pump systems. We size systems specifically for your home's heat loss to ensure adequate output on the coldest days.

Is underfloor heating suitable for retrofit to an existing home?

It depends on your floors. If you have a concrete slab, we can core-drill and install pipework, though this is more involved. For timber floors, an overlay screed system is possible in some cases. The most practical retrofit option for most existing homes with timber floors is hydronic radiator panels — they're highly effective, far less disruptive, and pair beautifully with a heat pump.

Are there government rebates available for heat pump heating?

Yes. The Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program currently offers financial incentives for replacing gas appliances with efficient electric alternatives, which can include heat pump heating systems. Federal and state government rebate programs are subject to change — we'll advise you on what's currently available at the time of your installation.

How much noise does an outdoor heat pump unit make?

Modern residential heat pumps are very quiet — typically 45–55 dB at one metre, similar to a conversation or background music. We carefully plan the placement of the outdoor unit with noise and aesthetics in mind, including council setback requirements and neighbouring properties. Indoors, the system is silent — there are no fans or air handlers inside your home.

How long does installation take?

A gas-to-heat-pump changeover (keeping existing radiators) typically takes 1–2 days. A new radiator panel installation depends on the number of rooms but is usually 3–5 days. New underfloor slab or screed systems are longer — typically done during the building or renovation phase. We'll give you a detailed timeline as part of your quote.
